Here are some students from Room 1 in their first Music
Technology lesson for this year. In these photos you can
see them during their first experience with Garage Band,
where they are choosing and arranging a variety of musical
loops to compose their own piece of music. Next week they
will use software musical keyboards and learn how to record
their own playing.

In
Music technology students discuss and explore questions about music.
What is
music? How did music happen in the history of Maori culture? Where else in
the world does music happen? When, why and how does music happen? This will
include seeing and listening to music played from a variety of cultures and
styles.
Students
will also create music using real instruments and technology.
Rob Thorne is visiting us this week and next week to talk to us about Maori instruments and why they are used. He is one of New Zealand's experts on the Maori instruments - he makes them, lectures on them and is soon to travel overseas to look at the instruments of South American cultures. Wow!
